Summer at Redenham

It’s scarcely believable that we’ve been at our new farm for six months. With July now in full swing, that means only one thing: yearling prep.

This autumn Norris Bloodstock will be consigning yearlings at Tattersalls October, Goffs UK Premier Sale, Tattersalls Ascot and Tattersalls December. Work has started on those heading to the earlier sales at Doncaster and Ascot and it has been great to use the grass walkways all around the farm at Redenham Park where we have 115 acres. For us, nothing beats educating the young horses by being walked in hand on a daily basis. It teaches them manners and it gets us fit. Current daily step count somewhere in the region of 25,000!

The farm is coming along nicely. We’ve erected 12 new stables in addition to those in the beautiful old yard which is steeped in history, having been built in 1913. Through the spring we had 21 healthy foals and those that are permanent boarders are all now out enjoying this good weather.

Our Scots Dumpy chickens have settled in to their new surroundings and are laying well. In fact, Redenham Park is lovely for wildlife, particularly for birds. We have swallows nesting in the stables, wagtails in the barn, a wren’s nest, and partridges, pheasants and ducks all around.

All in all, we’re very happy with our move and delighted to be in a lovely setting in such an accessible area.
