Celebrating our first year at Redenham Park Stud

We’re awaiting the arrival of our first foal of 2020 at Redenham Park Stud and it’s quite hard to believe that we have already completed a fully year at this lovely farm.

We’ve done lots of work here in that time – including installing a new horse walker and some extra stabling in addition to the beautiful boxes in the main yard. Lady Clarke is a fantastic landlady and has allowed us the use of extra land for paddocks, which of course has meant that there’s been plenty of fencing to be done – I've become a dab hand with a post-basher!

We finished the year in great style. On the track, where it matters most, our Spanish-trained filly My Flinders (pictured right) recorded back-to-back wins in Madrid. Jenny and I were both there the first time and then I managed to return on a flying day trip for the second victory. Our thanks to trainer Guillermo Arizkoretta and his team at La Zarzuela for all their hard work.

Then we were delighted to see a really promising start for our homebred two-year-old filly Mazikeen, who was fourth on debut for Richard Hughes and then bounced back out to win on 11 December. She is the first foal of her dam Salome so it’s great to get a juvenile win on the page for the mare. Her Havana Gold half-sister will be going to this season’s breeze-up sale in Malcolm Bastard’s draft.

Of course the sales are an important part of out business and we were delighted to finish the year with a good draft of foals at Tattersalls. We took just three foals to Newmarket but they were all crackers. The Kingman colt out of Patsy Boyne was sold for 300,000gns, directly after a first-crop colt by Postponed, who made 270,000gns for his breeder Lord Margadale, and we also sold a very nice Bated Breath colt for 67,000gns.

We have already been sent some very nice yearlings who will board with us here until they start their prep in the summer. Once again we will be sending select drafts of quality yearlings to all the major sales, so do get in touch if you think we can help you to sell your yearling later this year.
